Click “DVD” in the disc-type menu, and in the selection window, click “Data-DVD”. A dialog box confirming the destination (your blank CD/DVD) will appear, as shown: G/O Media may get a commission. Select the.iso/.dmg file you want to burn to disc, and click on the Burn button. Now, as shown in the screenshot, select the 'Burn images from disc to disc' option. In a few moments your USB drive containing the converted DMG file will be ready. Select the DMG file and specify the destination, which is your USB drive. Launch DMG Editor and select the 'Burn' option, which will take you to a new window. PowerISO will start burning the dmg file to the disc. iso extension before it will be recognized. Some burning programs may require renaming the dmg with a. Burning dmg files is a two step process - 1)Expand the dmg and 2)Burn the expanded dmg (as an image not a file). Actually converting a dmg to an ISO 9660 image would not make sense since it would remove all of the Mac specific data. ISO (or ISO 9660) is an older file system format used on CDs. The expansion process is popularly called 'convert to ISO' on the web (due to a program called dmg2iso), but that is not technically correct. dmg files are compressed and must be expanded before burning to CD/DVD.
